ToR. Forum Rules and Regulations

In order to maintain our Amazing Forum Community, we ask all Members and Guests to abide by these rules and regulations while using our board. We do ask you read this thread in it’s entirety at least once prior to posting, and if you so choose not to read it, then be aware that your lack of experience with our rules and regulations will not be taken as an excuse for poor behavior. These rules are made clear and available to anyone at anytime. There are no excuses.

Brief Understanding of these Forums
The ToR.Forums are here for members and guests to enjoy. They are one of are largest and most important communication assets for our community. All members are encouraged to post and participate in as much as possible.

If you are familiar with Forums, then you are probably aware of how they are typically run. We, like many, have a Moderation Team, which is a selected group of members, that moderate our forums and ensure the Rules and Regulations are upheld. Along with the Moderation Team, the Administration Team has powers of Moderation to ensure the board is kept clean and in good shape for our community.

The Warning System
ToR. utilizes a two-type warning system on their board. We do this so we can cut our posters some slack from time to time, instead of jumping right into the more serious consequences. This two-type warning system is comprised of verbal warnings, and physical warnings. A verbal warning is when a Moderator or Administrator simply notifies you via PM or in a post that you got a verbal warning, and what it was for. Typically a verbal warning is used for petty things like Spam, Double Posting, and anything else a Moderator uses his best judgment to determine as “not worth a warn”. However, verbal warnings are never unlimited, and if we see a specific member start to get a lot of them in a short time we begin to hand out physical warnings. A physical warning is when a moderator or administration actually raises your warning level. A Moderator can see everyone’s warning level, however, a member can only see his or her own. It will appear on the left side of all of your posts (at the very bottom, below “Time Spent on Forums”) and you are able to click the percentage within the parentheses in order to view the comment page. This page is posted in by a Moderator or Administration every time they warn, decrease warn, or suspend your account. It is very useful if you’ve received a warning but do not understand why.

As long as you rarely receive warnings, then you should never have to worry about it. After 35 days (or as soon as the member or a Moderator notices), a warning you may have received is eligible to be taken away. However, if it has not been 35 days, and you receive another warning, you must now wait another 35 days before the first one can be removed. The Warning System is an affective system when used properly, and as long as your warnings are not stacking up, you should be fine. If you do start to get a lot of warnings, then you are probably going to soon be suspended and possibly even banned from our Forums, so please do not take “warnings” lightly.

If a member or guest accumulates 6 or more physical warnings in less then 6 months, they are subject to immediate termination from ToR. as well as an indefinite suspension (banned) on our forums. If this happens, you may counter the decision by contacting the Leaders or a member of the Administration Team.

ToR. Guest Policy
A “ToR. Guest” is in reference to a poster that is not also an actual member of Clan ToR. A guest could be someone new to the forums or an ex-member of ToR.. The Policy states that we have zero tolerance for unacceptable behavior, as defined by our rules. If a Guest is constantly caught causing a problem, they will be permanently removed from our board without warning and without trial. Meaning, we expect compliance with our Rules and Regulations from everyone, including our Guests, and if we find them incapable of maintaining ToR. Standards they will be made to leave. At the same time, we expect our Members to treat our Guests with the EXACT same respect you show other Members. Whether it is someone new or an Ex-Member you didn’t really like, we expect Members to treat them with a standardized level of decency. Failure to do so will result in serious consequences.

General Rules and Consequences

Zero Tolerance for BM
ToR. has embraced a Zero Tolerance Policy on Bad Manners; often referred to as BM. BM is typically your attitude and how you present yourself. If you are constantly cursing in sections that don’t allow bad language or you are harassing another Member/Guest, that is BM, and it is not allowed.
Consequences:
1st Offense: Physical Warn Level Increased.
2nd Offense: Physical Warn Level Increased + 24 hrs Suspension.
3rd Offense: Physical Warn Level Increased + 3 Days Suspension.
4th Offense: Physical Warn Level Increased + 7 Days Suspension.
5th Offense: Physical Warn Level Increased + BANNED.
*Please also note that because BM can obviously be on a large or small scale, sometimes the consequences may be greater or less depending on the Moderators best judgment. However, because of our Zero Tolerance Policy, you should never expect less then a Physical Warn for BM*

Racism
Racism is, like BM, considered completely unacceptable. While we understand that certain racial slurs may have no racism implied when you say them, please be courteous of all our members and avoid the terms entirely. Racism will be judged by the moderator with the "intent" of the post to be taken into consideration, but typically the consequences will be equal with that of BM.

Consequences:
1st Offense: Physical Warn Level Increased.
2nd Offense: Physical Warn Level Increased + 24 hrs Suspension.
3rd Offense: Physical Warn Level Increased + 3 Days Suspension.
4th Offense: Physical Warn Level Increased + 7 Days Suspension.
5th Offense: Physical Warn Level Increased + BANNED.

Spam
As with most Forum Communities, we do our best to limit spam. Spam can be defined as basically any unwanted or unnecessary material. Typically speaking, spam is not a big deal. However, if we notice a member consistently spamming to raise his post count or just to get a word in, we will take action. Most posters don’t realize how deadly spam can be to topics. We want to keep all our topics alive and interesting. Spam and “Off Topic Material” go hand-and-hand. A typical example of a “Spammer” posting “Spam” is in the Introductions/Resignations page. If I look down the list and the “Last Reply By:” has the same name in it for the last 30 topics and in each topic he said the same 1-2 word phrase, that is spam. Sometimes it can seem fun to post things like “lol” or “Yea” but it really is just an unnecessary post. Try and develop a decent post each and every time you go to partake in a thread 
Consequences:
1st-3rd Offense: Verbal Warning.
4th Offense: Warn Level Increase.
5th Offense: Warn Level Increase + 24 Hrs Suspension.
*Spam will typically never require more then a 24 hour suspension at the very maximum*

Spam Flood
Rarely, but on occasion, the board will be flooded with spam by either a bot or an internet hooligan with little-to-no life. When this happens, there is only one consequence, and that is an immediate removal from the board by means of account ban as well as an IP/IP Range ban.

Double-Posting
Try to avoid it. When you click “Add Reply” after you make a post just try and not click it so fast that it posts twice. Give it a second to load if it seems slow. Other then that though, it really isn’t a huge deal if it happens. Typically speaking we will just delete the second copy without issuing any warnings. However, please do not BUMP your topic. If you think it needs to be *bumped* contact a moderator and he can do it for you. Like spam, double-posting is only an issue if we see it happening a lot.
Consequences:
1st-3rd Offense: Verbal Warning.
4th Offense: Warn Level Increase.
5th Offense: Warn Level Increase + 24 Hrs Suspension.

Pornography
Clan ToR. is not an 14+ clan. Likewise, no pornography of any kind will be allowed on the board. The consequences are strict, as we will not be held responsible for that sort of material leaking into the youth.
Consequences:
1st Offense: Warn Level Increased, Edit the Picture out, Suspend for 3 days.
2nd Offense: Permanent Ban. No Exceptions. A 2nd Offense should never happen.
*Please note, Moderators are to use their best judgment in handling pornography. If we believe you purposefully posted the image to cause problems in acknowledgment of our rule, you very well may be banned on the 1st Offense*

Posting in the Right Section
Try to do it. Typically speaking, we will rarely if ever warn you for posting in the wrong section. You would have to do it countless times before it would be worth a physical warning. However, try your best to judge which section of the forums your new topic should go under. We try and keep the forums as clean and organized as possible. If you do post it in the wrong section, a Moderator should be around shortly to move it for you (or, if you realize it was the wrong section, you are free to contact them and ask them to move it).

Pictures
They’re hilarious, but be careful with them. There are no exceptions to the rules with pictures. If you are using a picture to BM someone or something and a Moderator deems it unsuitable, it can result in the same actions.
Consequences:
1st Offense: Physical Warn Level Increased.
2nd Offense: Physical Warn Level Increased + 24 hrs Suspension.
3rd Offense: Physical Warn Level Increased + 3 Days Suspension.
4th Offense: Physical Warn Level Increased + 7 Days Suspension.
5th Offense: Physical Warn Level Increased + BANNED.

Signatures
Be courteous. Huge Signatures can get very annoying to your surrounding members. Please keep your signature size within reason. If a Moderator receives a complaint or feels as if it is to large, he or she may ask you to make it smaller. If you disagree and feel your signature is of an okay size, it will be left up to the Admins whether or not the signature must be cut smaller.

Thanks,
-ToR. Administration
